SOME OF THE KEYS TO CRAFTING COMPREHENSIVE POST-SALVERY REPARATIONS POLICIES

The sociopolitical, philosophical, ethical and moral predicates have been well-laid out (both in POETRY and in PROSE) in MULTIPLE RELEASES THROUGH THIS WEBSITE AND ON MANY SOCIALMEDIA PLATFORMS. So, I'll not dwell on those while I focus our collective attention on (IF DONE RIGHT, AND WITH HEART, something that could be) one of the more effective and enduring remedies to endemic inequality and injustice, while simultaneously advancing the cause of RACIAL AMITY, ESPECIALLY IN OUR CURRENTLY RIVEN AMERICAN (WORLD) COMMUNITY.

Some communities and municipalities (both within the United States and beyond) have started the courageous and long-overdue process of constructively engaging this NEEDLESSLY DELICATE SUBJECT OF REPARATIONS!

There's never going to be a perfect time to broach the subject. So, might as well proceed constructively, educate those willing to listen and learn with open-heart, but unapologetically and with alacrity while dealing with those who make it clear that they cannot get pass their RACIAL ANIMUS, NO MATTER WHAT!

So, those who genuinely believe this is a legitimate issue worthy of exploration and good-faith implementation, should (put on their big boy/ big girl pants and) show some real courage. Speak-up openly and unequivocally on the matter! It is the only way to really build and maintain the momentum needed to successfully carry this home (both nationally and internationally). THE FACT THAT IT WOULD SUBSTANTIALLY BENEFIT THE ECONOMY IN THELONG-RUN IS ANOTHER SIDE BENEFIT THAT OUGHT TO GET GENUINE "DEFICIT-HAWKS" ON BOARD!

If (250 plus years ago, the American founding fathers, or more recently) the civil rights icons and others in the majority population who supported the cause had been tepid, waiting for permission, or the perfect time, many of the gains of the civil rights (John Robert's court in recent years, notwithstanding), would have just remained (by way of example) MLK'S QUIET PIPE DREAMS.

No one is naive about how very "tribal" our politics is right now. Therefore, almost certainly in some communities, at least in the near-term, it might cause some of the politicians advocating for this to lose a few local elections for daring to even broach the subject. So, endeavor to EDUCATE AND BE INCLUSIVE IN THE DIALOGUE AND THE POLITICAL GIVE-AND-TAKE that is necessary in any democratic society that's predicate on LAW AND JUSTICE. REMEBER TO LEAN INTO THE JUSTICE PART OF THIS ENDEAVOR. Besides, it'll say a lot about those types of blindly opposed individuals or communities as they twist and turn grasping for inane justifications why this should be a non-starter. But it's okay for them to keep benefiting from a historically rigged and unfair system, but not okay for us to have SOME COURSE CORRECTION TO AMELIORATE THE BLATANTLY UNFAIR BACKGROUND INEQUALITIIES?

So, what else is new? In any event, some (short-term political and economic) sacrifices are inevitable in the eventual accomplishment of this very socially necessary restitution, like any other thing that's salutary and worth fighting and sacrificing to secure.

Check the history books- Even the ones that have not been banned or garishly redacted to cater to the sensibilities of some very loud, even if discreet groups in some predictable localities!

Understanding Post-Slavery Reparations

The discourse surrounding reparations for victims of slavery and their descendants has gained significant traction over recent years. As societies grapple with their historical injustices, it becomes imperative to devise comprehensive policies that address these disparities. Discussions should focus on creating a holistic reparations framework that not only aims to right the wrongs of the past but also seeks to establish pathways toward social and economic equity.

Key Considerations for Effective Policies

1. **Acknowledge Historical Injustices**: RATHER THAN BAN BOOKS OR WHITE-WASH UNCOMFORTABLE PARTS OFOUR OTHERWISE IMPRESSIVE HISTORY AS A RELATIVELY YOUNG NATION, the first step in crafting an effective reparations policy involves a sincere acknowledgment of the historical injustices faced by victims of slavery. Public recognition can help foster a greater understanding among all societal members.

2. **Comprehensive Research**: Conducting thorough research to document the impacts of slavery on both living victims and their descendants is crucial (INCLUDING THE IMPACTS SUFFERED FROM WHERE THOSE ENSLAVED HUMAN BEINGS WERE FORCIBLY TAKEN! - INCLUDING THE IMPACTS OF SUBSEQUENT COLONIZATION) This data will support the development of informed and effective reparations policies.

3. **Community Engagement**: Engaging affected communities in the policymaking process ensures that the reparations scheme is culturally relevant and adequately meets their needs. Their voices should be heard and considered in every aspect of the framework.

4. **Economic Compensation**: Direct financial compensation can be a central aspect of reparations. This approach might involve grants, tax incentives, or direct payments aimed at providing economic stability and opportunity for affected individuals and communities.

5. **Education and Awareness**: An effective reparations policy should also include elements that focus on education around the history of slavery and its lasting impacts. The promotion of awareness through curricula or community programs can foster healing and understanding. THE VERY OPPOSITE OF BOOK BANNING AND REDACTING UNCOMFORTABLE HISTORY!

Implementing Structural Changes

6. **Changes to Infrastructure**: NO MORE RED-LINING POLICIES!!! Investing in infrastructure within affected communities can help rectify systemic inequalities. This might involve improvements in public transportation, health services, and educational facilities.

ARGUABLY, STOPPING SCHOOL BUSSING DECADES AGO, AMONG OTHER THINGS, DEPRIVED AMERICA THE OPPORTUNITY TO HAVE ORGANICALLY AND SUBSTANTIALLY SOLVED SOME OF THE ISSUES THAT WERE ALLOWED TO FESTER FOR DECADES (INCLUDING YOUNG PEOPLE OF ALL RACES WHO LATER GREW TO BE PARENTS, OPINION-SHAPERS, BUSINESS AND LOCAL LEADERS IN THEIR RESPECTIVE COMMUNITIES), GROWING UP TO TRULY SEE, RESPECT, AND VALUE EACH OTHER'S HUMANITY AS EQUAL CITIZENS WORTHY OF EQUAL CARE AND CONCERN!!!

7. **Support for Business Development**: Policies that facilitate small business development and entrepreneurship within marginalized communities can promote economic growth. Access to funding and resources can empower descendants of victims. AND ALSO HELPING THE COMMUNITIES TO PUSH-BACK A LITTLE AGAINST PREDATORY BUSINESSES

8. **Housing Initiatives**: Supporting affordable housing programs is essential. These initiatives can combat the legacy of housing discrimination and create a stable environment for future generations.

9. **Mental Health Services**: Recognizing the psychological impact of historical injustices is crucial. Allocating resources for mental health support within communities can facilitate recovery and healing. SIMULTANEOUSLY, THERE HAS TO BE AN ADDITION TO THE SCHOOL CURRICULUM OF OTHERS AROUND THE COUNTRY WHO HAVE BEEN EITHER OVERTLY OR COVERTLY TAUGHT TO FEEL SUPERIOR TO START TAKING A MOMENT TO REALLY SEE THEIR FELLOW CITIZENS AS EQUALLY INVESTED AND SIMILARLY ENTITLED TO THIS GREAT COUNTRY'S BOUNTY WHICH THEIR FORE-FATHERS HELPED TO LAY THE FOUNDATION.

Long-Term Strategies for Success

10. **Establishment of a Reparations Fund**: Creating a dedicated fund for reparations is vital. This fund could be managed to ensure long-term financial support for initiatives benefiting descendants of slavery.

11. **Monitoring and Evaluation**: Continuous evaluation of the reparations policy's effectiveness is essential to ensure it meets its objectives. This process can identify areas for improvement over time.

12. **Collaborative Governance**: Forming partnerships between government bodies, civil society, and community organizations can enhance the implementation of reparations policies.

13. **Intergenerational Commitment**: Recognizing that reparations are a long-term commitment will help sustain efforts over generations. This perspective can ensure that descendants continue to benefit from established policies.

14. **International Collaboration**: Engaging with international bodies can offer insights from global efforts in reparations, ensuring local policies are informed and transformative.

In conclusion, establishing a comprehensive policy on post-slavery reparations is essential for rectifying historical injustices. These 14 summarized keys provide a framework for addressing the complexities of this endeavor, ultimately aiming for a more equitable society.
